The rise and fall of musical trends are a continuously cycling event. Individual songs, artists, and even genres build up in popularity only to slowly decay over time. These waves of popularity are documented throughout popular culture, but it is difficult to pinpoint precisely when a music aspect achieved popular status by anecdote alone. Here we visualized three aspects of musical trends: The overall percentage share of each genre over time, the previlance of particular artists or genres, and the success of songs on a weekly basis.
